Lake Annecy Map Poster & Print
Lake Annecy lies in Haute-Savoie in the French Alps. It is a narrow lake about fourteen kilometres long, running from the town of Annecy in the north to the valley near Doussard in the south. It is often described as one of the cleanest lakes in Europe, thanks to a sewer ring around its shores that was planned from the 1950s onward.
Seen from above, the shape is unusual. The lake narrows sharply in the middle, where the Roc de Chère on the eastern shore and the Duingt peninsula on the western shore reach toward each other. This divides the water into the Grand Lac to the north and the Petit Lac to the south, with steep slopes and the Tournette massif above.
At the northern end, the Thiou and a few small canals cross the old town of Annecy, and the Palais de l'Isle stands on a sliver of land in the water. A Lake Annecy map poster brings together the town's close-knit streets and the long, quiet outline of the lake, framed by roads along both shores.
