Licha is in Shandong province in eastern China, on the low plain inland from the Jiaozhou Bay area. The land here is flat and heavily farmed. On the map the town appears as a regular pattern of straight streets and rectangular blocks, set in the surrounding countryside.
Beyond the town, the land is divided into orderly fields crossed by farm roads and drainage channels. Villages lie at regular intervals across the plain, each a small cluster of streets. Larger roads link them to the town and to the wider regional network, and they run in long, straight lines.
