Lijiang Map Poster & Print
Lijiang sits on a high plateau in northwest Yunnan, with the snow-capped Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to the north. The old town, Dayan, is instantly recognisable on a map: a maze of narrow, curving lanes with no regular grid, crossed by small canals and streams that carry water through the neighbourhoods.
The water comes from springs around Black Dragon Pool, a park and lake just north of the old town. From there, channels divide and flow between houses, and many lanes follow their course. Around this core, the modern city spreads out in wider roads and newer blocks toward the edges of the valley.
The Old Town of Lijiang has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997, and it is closely associated with the Naxi people and their pictographic Dongba script. A Lijiang map poster shows the delicate old town at the heart of the valley, framed by the modern city and the surrounding hills.
