关于地图
Panzhihua Map Poster & Print
Panzhihua was built from the mid-1960s as a new industrial city, developed to exploit rich deposits of iron ore, vanadium and titanium. Its setting is dramatic: the city follows the deep, winding valley of the Jinsha River, the upper Yangtze, near its meeting with the Yalong, so neighbourhoods cling to narrow terraces and hillsides.
On the map this produces a long, broken ribbon of urban areas rather than a compact city. Districts appear in clusters wherever the valley widens, connected by roads that follow the river's curves and climb the slopes in tight switchbacks. Bridges cross the Jinsha at intervals, stitching the two banks together.
The city's name comes from the kapok tree, whose red flowers bloom here each spring, and its hot, dry valley climate is unusual for Sichuan. A Panzhihua map poster shows how completely the terrain has shaped the place, with the river as the single line that ties every part of the city together.

Switchback roads
Streets zigzag up the valley slopes to reach hillside neighbourhoods, creating tight curves that stand out sharply against the smoother course of the river.
Linear districts
Built-up areas spread along the valley in separate pockets, so the city reads as a chain of settlements rather than a single dense centre.

为什么选 Panzhihua
一张有意义的地图
Panzhihua is home to many families who came to build its industries, and the map tells that story without words. The river's twisting path makes a bold graphic line that works well in almost any room.
Personalise the title with a family name or the year someone arrived, and set the subtitle and coordinates as you like. The five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, give different moods to the same valley.
