Station hub
Machida Station is where two major rail lines cross, and the surrounding blocks form the densest part of the map, a compact commercial centre serving much of the surrounding region.

关于地图
Machida Map Poster & Print
Machida lies on the south-western edge of Tokyo, and its outline is one of the more distinctive on the metropolitan map: the city pushes south like a peninsula into Kanagawa Prefecture, bordered for much of its length by the Sakai River. This shape has made Machida the subject of a long-running joke among Tokyo residents that it really belongs to Kanagawa.
The centre is built around Machida Station, where the Odakyu line and the JR Yokohama line meet, and the streets around it form a dense commercial knot of shopping arcades and department stores. Away from the station, the pattern changes quickly. The city spreads across the Tama Hills, and planned residential estates follow the contours of ridges while valleys hold narrow roads and streams.
Large parts of the northern city remain wooded, with parks, temples and farmland scattered between the housing. On a Machida map poster, this gives an interesting contrast: a tight, busy core around the railway, curving suburban roads on the slopes, and quiet open spaces where the hills have been left largely alone.

Sakai River border
The Sakai River winds along much of the boundary with Kanagawa, a thin line that also traces the unusual outline of the city on the edge of Tokyo.
Tama Hills estates
Residential developments on the Tama Hills follow the ridges and slopes, producing looping roads and cul-de-sacs that read very differently from the grids of central Tokyo.

为什么选 Machida
一张有意义的地图
Machida is home for many people who commute into Tokyo or Yokohama, and its map shows both sides of suburban life: the station they pass through every day and the quiet hillside streets they come back to in the evening.
Add a title, a subtitle such as a neighbourhood, and a custom coordinates line, then choose one of five styles, from Noir to Paper. Buy the digital HD files for $9 in six print sizes, or have it printed on matte paper and shipped from a partner near you.
