关于地图
Mednogorsk Map Poster & Print
Mednogorsk lies in the east of Orenburg Oblast, where the southern tip of the Ural Mountains breaks up into low ridges and valleys, close to the border with Kazakhstan. The name means copper mountain, and the town grew in the twentieth century around the mining and processing of copper and sulphur ores in the area.
As a planned industrial town, Mednogorsk has a more regular layout than an old village would. Residential districts are set out in blocks, and the industrial areas are kept apart from them. The surrounding hills limit how far the town can spread. On the map the settlement sits in a clear hollow, with roads leading out through the valleys toward neighbouring towns and the steppe beyond.
A Mednogorsk map poster records a typical Soviet-era company town shaped by Ural terrain. You see ordered housing blocks, open space around the industrial sites and the curving roads that follow the land. People who grew up there will recognise it immediately, and it tells a clear story about how the town came to be.

Industrial edge
Areas linked to the copper and sulphur industry sit apart from the housing. They appear as larger, more open shapes on the edges of the town.
Ural ridges
Low hills of the southern Urals surround the town. Roads have to leave through the valleys, which gives the map a clearly enclosed feel.

为什么选 Mednogorsk
一张有意义的地图
For people whose parents or grandparents came to Mednogorsk to work, or who grew up in its apartment blocks, this map is part of a family story. It honours an industrial town that is rarely pictured anywhere else.
The title and subtitle can be written in any language, including Russian, and the coordinates line can be edited. The five styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir works especially well for an industrial town.
