Old quarter
Stone houses built wall to wall form compact blocks with inner courtyards, and the lanes between them twist and narrow in a pattern very different from the newer town.

关于地图
Midyat Map Poster & Print
Midyat lies on the limestone plateau of Tur Abdin in south-eastern Turkey, east of Mardin. Its map shows two distinct parts: the old town, a dense cluster of stone houses and narrow lanes around churches and mosques, and Estel, the newer administrative centre a short distance away, laid out with straighter streets. Between them, roads cross an open landscape of fields and dry hills.
Tur Abdin is a historic heartland of Syriac Christianity, and Midyat's old quarter is known for honey-coloured stone mansions with carved facades and inner courtyards, some now used as guesthouses and film sets. The ancient Mor Gabriel Monastery, one of the oldest active monasteries in the world, stands in the countryside south-east of the town.
A Midyat map poster captures that contrast in texture: the tightly packed old town, where courtyards appear as small openings in solid blocks, and the looser, more regular pattern of the modern districts nearby. Printed in the Sand or Paper styles, the map echoes the warm stone of the town itself.

Estel district
The modern centre lies a short distance from the old town, with a more regular street layout, the two areas reading as separate clusters on the map.
Tur Abdin plateau
Around the town the limestone upland opens into fields, terraces and scattered villages, a sparse landscape crossed by roads leading to monasteries and neighbouring towns.

为什么选 Midyat
一张有意义的地图
Midyat matters to Syriac families across Europe and beyond, to people from Mardin province, and to travellers who have walked its stone lanes. The map keeps the shape of a very old settlement in a quiet, modern form.
Add a title, a family name or a date to the subtitle, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and order either the $9 HD files or a printed poster, framed or unframed.
