Mingshui Map Poster & Print
Mingshui is the long-established centre of Zhangqiu, now part of Jinan in Shandong province. It sits where the North China Plain meets the first low hills to the south. From above, the street pattern is mostly rectilinear. Main roads run east to west and north to south, and blocks of housing, workshops and schools fill the spaces between them. Farmland presses right up to the edges.
The wider Zhangqiu area is known for its springs and for its tall, mild green onions, a regional speciality sold across China. It is also associated with the Song dynasty poet Li Qingzhao. Mingshui itself shows the typical layering of a mid-sized Chinese town: an older core of tighter streets, and newer, larger blocks spreading outward along wide arterial roads.
