Central plaza
The main square with its church is the fixed point of the town. The grid of streets spreads out from it, block by block, following the pattern of colonial towns across Colombia.

关于地图
Moniquirá Map Poster & Print
Moniquirá lies in the province of Ricaurte in Boyacá, in a warm valley on the western slopes of the Colombian Andes. Its lower altitude gives it a milder climate than much of the highland department. From above, the town follows the classic Spanish colonial plan, with a grid of streets around a central plaza and the church, adapted to the slopes of the valley.
The town is known in Colombia as the Ciudad Dulce, the sweet city, because of its long tradition of making bocadillo, a firm guava paste often wrapped in dried plantain leaves. Bocadillo from this part of Boyacá and neighbouring Santander is sold across the country, and the trade is closely tied to the town's identity.
A Moniquirá map poster shows a small Andean town in its landscape. The regular blocks of the centre sit on sloping ground, the Moniquirá River runs along the valley, and roads twist out toward the surrounding hills and villages. In black and white, the contrast between the ordered grid and the curving country roads gives the design its character.

Moniquirá River
The river runs along the valley below the town. On the poster its winding course contrasts with the straight streets and marks the lowest point of the terrain.
Mountain roads
Roads leave the town in curves as they climb the slopes toward other Boyacá towns. They give the composition movement and show how the town sits within its valley.
