Montluçon Map Poster & Print
Montluçon, in the Allier department, grew up where the river Cher leaves the uplands. On a map, its oldest part is easy to spot. A small hill crowned by the castle of the Dukes of Bourbon is ringed by lanes that curve around it in near-circles, the old medieval plan still visible within the modern town.
In the nineteenth century, the Canal de Berry and coal from nearby basins made Montluçon an industrial town. Newer districts spread along the river and across the Cher to the west. The castle now houses MuPop, a museum devoted to popular music and instruments, a curious detail for a building of that age.
A Montluçon map poster is built around that central knot. Tight rings on the castle hill, the gentle curve of the Cher and wider boulevards around the centre make a layered composition that feels both historic and industrial.
