Nakonde Map Poster & Print
Nakonde sits on Zambia's northeastern border with Tanzania, directly opposite the Tanzanian town of Tunduma. Its map is defined by movement: the Great North Road runs through the town toward the frontier, and the TAZARA railway, linking Zambia's Copperbelt with the port of Dar es Salaam, passes close by. Streets and markets have grown up along these routes.
As one of the busiest land crossings in the region, Nakonde handles a steady flow of trucks carrying goods between Zambia and the Indian Ocean coast. Long queues of vehicles, clearing agents, warehouses and trading stalls shape daily life. Beyond the town, the land opens into the high plateau of Muchinga Province.
