Valley-floor settlement
Houses and roads gather on the flat valley land, so the built-up area appears as a narrow band with hills on either side.

关于地图
Nanaku Map Poster & Print
Nanaku lies in the southern part of Aomori Prefecture, well inland from the Pacific coast of northern Honshu. On a map, the settled area follows the valley floors. Roads and houses keep to the flat land, and the hills on either side are shown as wide empty spaces broken only by a few thin, winding lanes.
The region has long, snowy winters, and the surrounding countryside is agricultural, with orchards, rice paddies and fields stretching along the valleys. Clusters of streets mark the town's core. Beyond them, the map loosens quickly into a scattering of hamlets joined by country roads, which is typical of rural Tohoku.
A Nanaku map poster shows the modest scale of the place honestly. It is a small town, not a dense city, and its character comes from the balance between a few concentrated streets and the wide, quiet land around them. In black and white, that balance produces a sparse composition with a lot of open space, closer to a landscape sketch than a street plan.

Rural road network
Past the town core, single roads branch out toward outlying hamlets, drawing long, thin lines across the open areas of the map.
Open hill country
Wooded hills fill much of the frame as blank space. This gives the few streets that do appear a clear, graphic weight.
