Nidda lies in the Wetteraukreis of Hesse, where the river that shares its name leaves the foothills of the Vogelsberg and flows toward the open Wetterau. The map shows a compact historic core beside the river, with residential areas extending along the valley. Outlying villages, all part of the same municipality, are scattered across the surrounding countryside.
The river gives the town its main axis. Its meandering course, with meadows and short tree-lined stretches, runs along the valley floor, while roads and the railway follow the gentler ground alongside. Around the edges, fields and patches of woodland alternate across rolling hills, creating a patchwork that is typical of this part of central Germany.
Nidda also includes the spa district of Bad Salzhausen, known for its saline springs and park, which appears on the map as a small green enclave. A Nidda map poster shows the town and its villages as one landscape, linked by river, roads and farmland, rather than as a single dense centre.
