Colonial centre
The historic streets link a series of squares and church fronts. On the map they form a compact, orderly core that stands apart from later growth.

关于地图
Oeiras Map Poster & Print
Oeiras is a town in the interior of Piauí, in north-eastern Brazil. It was the capital of the province until 1852, when the seat of government moved to Teresina on the Parnaíba River. The historic centre dates from the colonial period and has kept its old churches, squares and single-storey houses, and it is protected as national heritage.
From above, the old town is a small, fairly regular pattern of streets running between squares, with churches positioned at the ends of main axes. The surrounding sertão is semi-arid country, so the town's edges fade quickly into sparse roads and open land. Oeiras is also known for its Holy Week processions, which draw many visitors each year.
An Oeiras map poster captures a town whose importance is older than its size. The print shows the colonial core, the gradual spread of newer neighbourhoods and the roads leading out into the dry interior. It suits people from Piauí and anyone interested in the history of Brazil's north-east.

Former capital
Oeiras governed Piauí until 1852. Its layout still reflects that role, with a centre organised around civic and religious buildings rather than a port or railway.
Sertão edges
The semi-arid country around the town has few roads. The map thins out quickly at its margins and leaves broad, quiet space around the settlement.

为什么选 Oeiras
一张有意义的地图
For people from Oeiras living in Teresina, São Paulo or further afield, a map of the old capital is a point of pride and a reminder of Holy Week at home. For history enthusiasts, it is a clear record of a colonial town plan.
Set your own title and subtitle, such as a family name or a date, and edit the coordinates line. Choose one of five styles, including Paper and Sand, which suit the warm colours of the sertão. Download it or order a printed poster.
