关于地图
Padam Map Poster & Print
Padam, often written Padum, is the main settlement of Zanskar, a remote high-altitude region of Ladakh in the Indian Himalaya. The town lies on a broad valley floor ringed by mountains, close to where the Stod and Lungnak rivers join to form the Zanskar River. The settlement is small on a map, but its setting is huge: braided river channels, flat fields and steep ridges on every side.
Snow cuts the valley off for much of the winter. The frozen Zanskar River has traditionally served as a route out through the gorges, a journey known as the Chadar. Buddhist monasteries sit on slopes around the valley. One of them is Karsha, among the largest in Zanskar, which can be seen from Padam across the plain.
A Padam map poster is mostly landscape. The few streets of the town sit among long, braided river channels and the edges of fields, with tracks leading off toward villages and passes. In black and white the water becomes the main subject, splitting and rejoining across the valley floor in lines too intricate to invent.

Braided channels
The rivers spread across the flat valley in many interlacing channels. This delicate braided pattern turns the plain into a fine, flowing drawing.
Valley fields
Irrigated fields cluster close to the town and nearby villages. On the ground they are small green patches, and on the map they show as neat outlines on the open valley floor.

为什么选 Padam
一张有意义的地图
Travellers who have made the long journey to Zanskar, by road or on foot, often want a lasting reminder of how remote and open it felt. A map shows the scale of the valley without needing a single photograph.
Add the trip dates or the name of your route to the title lines, adjust the coordinates, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The Blueprint style suits a layout with this much water particularly well. Printed posters on matte paper are also available.
