Branching roads
Roads curve along ridges and down into valleys, dividing again and again into smaller lanes, which gives the map a tree-like pattern.

关于地图
Pallikal Map Poster & Print
Pallikal lies in northern Kerala, in the rolling country inland from the Malabar coast. The land here is made of low hills and small valleys, and settlement follows it closely. Instead of a compact town centre, the map shows houses and small clusters spread along roads that curve around slopes and drop into the lower ground between them.
This pattern is typical of much of Kerala, where villages and towns merge into one another and a continuous semi-rural landscape covers large areas. The roads look like branching veins. Main routes run along ridges and valley floors, and smaller lanes lead off them towards individual homes, fields and coconut groves.
A Pallikal map poster has an organic, almost botanical quality. There are no grids and few straight lines. Curving roads fill the sheet evenly, gathering a little more tightly at junctions and markets. It is a map of a place that is lived across, not built around a single centre.

Rolling terrain
Low hills and hollows shape where people build, so homes and junctions follow the land instead of forming a planned grid.
Dispersed settlement
Instead of one dense core, houses spread evenly across the landscape, typical of northern Kerala's continuous, semi-rural settlement.

为什么选 Pallikal
一张有意义的地图
Many people from Malabar live and work far from home, and a map of the family's village keeps that place close. The curving, organic lines make an attractive print even for guests who have never been there.
Write your own title, add a subtitle such as a house name or year, and set the coordinates. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
