Open-pit mine
The huge copper pit on the edge of town appears as a vast rounded hollow surrounded by mine roads and dumps. It is one of the most unusual shapes on any town poster.

关于地图
Phalaborwa Map Poster & Print
Phalaborwa lies in the Lowveld of Limpopo province, right on the western boundary of the Kruger National Park. It is one of the few South African towns that borders the park directly, and the Phalaborwa Gate is a short drive from the town centre. The contrast on the map is immediate: planned streets on one side and the wide open bush of the reserve on the other.
The town was built around mining. Copper, phosphate and other minerals have been worked here, and the great open-pit copper mine on the edge of town is often described as one of the largest man-made holes in Africa. Archaeological evidence shows that people smelted metal in this area centuries before the modern mines. The name is often explained as meaning better than the south.
A Phalaborwa map poster shows a place shaped by these forces. The residential suburbs follow a planned layout of wide roads and generous plots, the mining areas appear as vast shapes of pits and dumps, and the edge of Kruger forms a clean boundary where the streets simply stop. Few town maps are this distinctive.

Kruger boundary
The national park runs close to the town, and the poster marks the abrupt change from gridded suburbs to open bushveld. The road to Phalaborwa Gate leads straight in.
Planned suburbs
The town's residential areas were laid out from the late 1950s with wide streets, parks and large plots. They give the centre of the map an orderly, spacious pattern.

为什么选 Phalaborwa
一张有意义的地图
Phalaborwa is home to generations of mining families and a familiar starting point for Kruger safaris. The map works for both: a reminder of a childhood in the Lowveld, or a keepsake from a trip that began by driving through Phalaborwa Gate at dawn.
You can choose the title and subtitle, add a date and keep the coordinates line. Then pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital files come in six sizes, and printed posters are available with an optional wooden frame.
