Steel plant footprint
The steel works occupy a vast area near the city centre, with rail sidings and industrial buildings forming a dense geometric block unlike anything else on the map.

关于地图
Rourkela Map Poster & Print
Rourkela lies in the north of Odisha, among low hills and forested ridges near the border with Jharkhand. The city grew around the Rourkela Steel Plant, which began production in the late 1950s as India's first integrated steel plant in the public sector, built with German collaboration.
From above, the map is dominated by the huge rectangular footprint of the plant, with its rail lines and industrial buildings. Next to it, the steel township is laid out in numbered sectors, each with its own grid of streets, schools and markets. Nearby, the Koel and Sankh rivers meet to form the Brahmani River, a confluence known locally as Vedvyas.
A Rourkela map poster captures an unusual kind of city, one planned around industry. The regular sectors, the vast plant, the hills and the river confluence make a composition that is both orderly and dramatic. The city is also home to the National Institute of Technology, whose campus forms another large green area on the map.

Numbered township sectors
The planned township is divided into sectors, each with its own regular street layout, giving large parts of the city a tidy, modular pattern.
River confluence
On the outskirts, the Koel and Sankh rivers join to form the Brahmani, creating a clear point where two dark lines merge into one wider channel.

为什么选 Rourkela
一张有意义的地图
Rourkela holds a special place for families who worked at the plant, alumni of NIT Rourkela and anyone who grew up in its sectors. A map of the city shows the unique structure that shaped their daily lives.
Add a title, a subtitle naming your sector or graduation year and the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand; the Blueprint style suits a city built to an industrial plan.
