The word shahrak means a small or new town, and the layout matches: the streets form a mostly regular pattern with long, straight roads and fairly uniform blocks.
Seen from above, the town stands out clearly from the open land around it. Past the edges, the map becomes sparse, with a few roads, field boundaries and watercourses running across dry country, and the high ground of the foothills in the distance.
