关于地图
Shonai Map Poster & Print
Shonai is a town in Yamagata Prefecture, formed in 2005 when the towns of Amarume and Tachikawa merged. It lies on the Shonai Plain, one of Japan's major rice-growing areas. From above, the landscape is strongly geometric: rectangular paddy fields in a precise grid, farm roads and irrigation channels in straight lines, and settlements clustered between them.
The Mogami River, one of Japan's large rivers, flows through the area on its way to the Sea of Japan, cutting diagonally across the regular fields. At the eastern end of the plain, where the river leaves the mountains, strong local winds known as the Kiyokawa-dashi blow through the valley. The Tachikawa area has used this wind for wind power.
A Shonai map poster is a study in pattern. The paddy grid covers the frame with fine, repeated lines, broken by the river's curve and the small, denser clusters of town streets. It's a quiet, almost abstract design that rewards a close look.

Mogami River
The Mogami cuts across the plain in a broad curve toward the sea. It's the one flowing line in a landscape of straight edges.
Town clusters
The former centres of Amarume and Tachikawa form small, denser knots of streets. They punctuate the fields and give the eye a place to rest.

为什么选 Shonai
一张有意义的地图
Shonai's landscape is beautiful from above, and a map lets you see the pattern that's hard to appreciate on the ground. It suits people from the area, lovers of rural Japan and anyone drawn to geometric design.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be customised, perhaps with the town's name in Japanese. Choose among five styles, try the free preview, then order HD files or a printed poster on matte paper.
