关于地图
Tokmok Map Poster & Print
Tokmok stands in the Chuy valley about sixty kilometres east of Bishkek, on the southern bank of the Chu River, which here forms the border with Kazakhstan. The town was largely laid out in the Soviet period, and from above its centre shows long straight streets crossing at right angles, broad blocks and rows of trees lining the main avenues.
To the south the land rises towards the Kyrgyz Ala-Too range, and the valley between river and mountains is filled with irrigated fields and villages. On the map the town's regular grid sits against this farmland, with the river's braided channels and wooded banks drawing a looser, organic line along the northern edge.
The area has been settled for a very long time. A short distance south of town stands the Burana Tower, the remaining minaret of the medieval city of Balasagun, once a capital of the Karakhanids. A Tokmok map poster brings together the planned modern town and the wider valley that has drawn people for more than a thousand years.

Chu River edge
The Chu River runs along the northern side of town, its channels, islands and riverside woodland forming a natural boundary and the line of the frontier with Kazakhstan.
Near Burana Tower
South of the town, among fields at the foot of the mountains, the Burana Tower marks the site of Balasagun, a medieval Silk Road city of the Karakhanid era.

为什么选 Tokmok
一张有意义的地图
Tokmok suits a wall map because its structure is so legible: grid, river, fields, mountains. It makes a thoughtful gift for someone who grew up here and moved to Bishkek or abroad, especially with their own title and a meaningful date added below.
Pick one of five styles, from crisp Classic black & white to Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files in six sizes for $9, or have a matte poster printed and shipped, with a wooden frame if you like.
