Radiating roads
The main routes leave the centre in several directions towards Juba and the borders, giving the map a clear, star-like structure.

关于地图
Torit Map Poster & Print
Torit is the capital of Eastern Equatoria state in the south-east of South Sudan. From above, the town spreads across open, flat ground. It has a loose street network, wide roads and large compounds, and the ground in between is left open and unbuilt.
The main roads meet near the town centre and head out towards Juba, the Kenyan and Ugandan borders, and the eastern areas of the state. Seasonal watercourses cross the surrounding plain, and higher ground rises to the south. On the map, that turns the town into a spread of lines with no firm outline.
Torit is known in South Sudanese history as the place where the 1955 mutiny of southern soldiers took place, an event often regarded as the start of the first Sudanese civil war. A Torit map poster records the regional capital as it is: open, low and spread out across wide country.

Open compounds
Large plots and unbuilt ground between streets make the town's pattern airy, with plenty of blank space inside the frame.
Seasonal streams
Watercourses that swell in the rainy season cross the plain around the town, drawing irregular lines through the flat land.
