Clearing in the taiga
The built-up area stops abruptly against the forest, so the town's outline is unusually crisp, a dense urban shape framed by wide empty margins on every side.

关于地图
Yugorsk Map Poster & Print
Yugorsk sits in the western part of Khanty-Mansia, close to the edge of the Ural foothills, where the West Siberian forest runs almost unbroken in every direction. From above, the town is a tight cluster of blocks set into a clearing. Dense green surrounds it on all sides, and the few roads leading out run straight and far before they meet anything else.
The town grew around the gas industry, and it still shows on the map. The residential districts are laid out in the orderly blocks typical of planned Soviet settlements, and industrial sites and service roads lie along the edges. The railway gives the town one firm line, and the rest of the plan arranges itself around it. Rivers and wetlands wind through the forest beyond the last streets.
A Yugorsk map poster reduces all of this to its structure: a small, deliberate grid held inside a vast field of fine forest texture. Much of the land around the town is empty, and the density at the centre stands out all the more against it. In black and white, the town reads as a clearing, which is exactly what it was when it was first built.

Planned residential blocks
Housing districts follow a regular, deliberate layout, with courtyards and parallel streets that give the centre of the poster an even, measured rhythm.
The railway line
A single rail corridor passes the town and stretches off through the forest, giving the composition a strong linear accent against the scattered wetland shapes.

为什么选 Yugorsk
一张有意义的地图
For people who worked in the northern gas fields or grew up in Yugorsk, the map is a way of keeping a remote place close. Its shape is simple but instantly recognisable, a small town surrounded by forest, and it works well on a quiet wall.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps a year of arrival or a family name, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir suits the northern winter especially well.
