Block street pattern
Much of the town is laid out in a fairly regular pattern of rectangular blocks. It gives the centre of the poster an ordered, textile-like texture.

Al Quţayfah Map Poster & Print
Al Quţayfah is a town in Rif Dimashq governorate, north-east of Damascus, on the route that runs north towards Homs. It lies in the Qalamoun area, where open plains meet the long ridges of the Anti-Lebanon mountains. With around sixteen thousand residents, it is a local centre for the surrounding villages and farmland.
The map shows a town shaped by roads. Its streets make a fairly regular pattern of blocks, stretched along the main routes that pass through and around it. Beyond the built edge, the land opens into fields and dry ground, crossed by a few straight tracks, while higher terrain rises beyond.
An Al Quţayfah map poster shows the town the way it reads from above: a compact, defined settlement set on a broad plain, with long lines of road leading away to Damascus and the north. In black and white, the block pattern is a dense rectangle of detail surrounded by wide, quiet space.

The northern route
The main road between Damascus and Homs passes nearby. It is a long, strong line that ties the town into Syria's central corridor.
Open plain
Fields and dry, open ground surround the built area. They create generous empty space around the town's dense core.
