Temple precinct
The central temple and its surrounding streets form the dense core of the town. On the poster they are the tightest cluster of lines on the sheet.

Ambaji Map Poster & Print
Ambaji lies in Banaskantha district in northern Gujarat, among the southern hills of the Aravalli range near the Rajasthan border. From above, the town is shaped by its setting: streets gather in a small valley, main roads follow the low ground between hills, and forested slopes surround the built-up area on most sides.
The town grew around the Ambaji temple, dedicated to the goddess Amba and counted among the Shakti Peethas. It draws very large numbers of pilgrims, particularly during the Bhadarvi Poonam fair. Nearby, Gabbar hill is also an important pilgrimage site, reached by steps and a ropeway.
An Ambaji map poster shows how firmly the town is focused on its centre. Lanes lead towards the temple precinct, and roads from outside approach through the hills. Surrounding it all, the rough terrain appears as open space, giving the compact town a clear, contained shape.

Aravalli hills
Hills and forest surround the town and leave large areas unbuilt. In black and white they give the map a quiet frame on every side.
Pilgrim roads
Roads from Palanpur and from Rajasthan approach through the valleys, following the terrain. Their curving routes show how visitors arrive in the town.
