This Arpino lies in Campania, on the flat ground north of Naples, where towns and districts have grown together into one continuous urban area. From above there are no clear edges. Streets from neighbouring areas run straight into one another, and the map is a close weave of short blocks, courtyards and main roads.
That density is what makes it interesting to look at. Older routes cross the plain at slightly different angles from the newer residential streets, so the grid shifts and bends in places.
