River confluence
The Lopori and Maringa rivers meet at the town, forming the Lulonga, and their joining channels create the defining shape of the map.

Basankusu Map Poster & Print
Basankusu is a town in Équateur province in the north-west of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It stands at the confluence of the Lopori and Maringa rivers, which join here to form the Lulonga, a tributary that eventually flows into the Congo River. From above, water is the dominant feature, framing the town on several sides.
The built-up area is modest: a set of streets and plots gathered along the riverbanks, with roads and tracks leading inland into the surrounding forest. Beyond the town, the map is mostly occupied by the rainforest of the central Congo Basin, crossed by winding rivers and the occasional path or clearing.
A Basankusu map poster is a portrait of a river settlement in one of the largest forested regions on Earth. For a long time, rivers have been the main routes for people and goods in this part of the country, and in black and white the meeting of the two rivers gives the composition a strong, simple focus.

Riverside town
Streets and buildings cluster along the banks, reflecting how the settlement developed around river transport rather than roads.
Rainforest margins
Around the town, the map opens into forest crossed by meandering waterways, leaving large calm areas that emphasise how remote the settlement is.
