Chauk Map Poster & Print
Chauk lies on the east bank of the Ayeyarwady in Magway Region, in the dry zone of central Myanmar. On a map the wide river runs along the western edge of the town, often with sandbanks and channels visible in its bed. The streets spread east from the riverbank into gently rising, arid country.
The town grew up around one of Myanmar's oldest oil fields, which has been worked since the early twentieth century, and the oil industry still shapes the landscape around it. A long road bridge crosses the Ayeyarwady here and connects Chauk to the western bank. The temple plain of Bagan lies a short distance upstream.
A Chauk map poster presents a river town and an industrial town at once. The broad, braided river, the long line of the bridge and the compact streets on the eastern bank form a clear composition, framed by the open, dry landscape of central Myanmar.

Braided river
The Ayeyarwady spreads wide here, with sandbanks and side channels that make a complex, flowing pattern along the town's western edge.
Oil field landscape
The oil fields near the town shaped its growth. The land around them adds a sparse, open texture to the edges of the map.
