Eccles Map Poster & Print
Eccles lies in the City of Salford, a few miles west of central Manchester. It is known far beyond the region for the Eccles cake, the small currant-filled pastry named after the town, and for its place in the industrial history of the Manchester area.
On the map Eccles is surrounded by waterways and transport routes. The Bridgewater Canal passes to the north and west, and to the south the Manchester Ship Canal forms a wide straight channel. Nearby, the Barton Swing Aqueduct carries the Bridgewater Canal over the Ship Canal, an unusual piece of Victorian engineering. The M60 and M602 motorways sweep around the town's edges.
An Eccles map poster brings together the terraced streets of the town centre, the water routes that served local industry and the motorways that now carry traffic around Manchester. In black and white the canals appear as clean lines, framing the dense residential grain between them.

Barton Swing Aqueduct
Nearby, the Bridgewater Canal crosses the Ship Canal on the Barton Swing Aqueduct, a structure that rotates to let ships pass beneath, a rare feature among canal crossings.
Terraced streets
Around the town centre the streets are lined with terraced houses, forming a dense pattern of short parallel roads that give the map its fine residential texture.

A map of Eccles suits people who grew up there, as well as anyone with a connection to the canals or the industrial history of Greater Manchester. The waterways make the town easy to place.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint pairs well with the engineering of the canals.
