Fushë-Krujë means "Plain of Krujë", and the name describes the map well. The town lies on level ground in central Albania, below the mountain ridge where the historic hilltop town of Krujë stands. From above, the flat, regular streets of Fushë-Krujë contrast with the steep, folded terrain rising to the east.
The main road north from Tirana runs through the area, and the town's streets branch off it in a loose, practical pattern. Farmland and new construction mix at the edges, and the country's main international airport lies a short distance to the south. The result is a map of a growing town at a crossroads rather than a planned grid.
