Channels and khals
Thin waterways criss-cross the surrounding fields, some winding naturally, others cut straight for irrigation and drainage, giving the map a delicate linear pattern.

Gaurnadi Map Poster & Print
Gaurnadi sits in Barisal District, in the heart of the Ganges–Brahmaputra delta, where water shapes nearly everything visible from the air. The town itself is compact, a cluster of streets and market lanes gathered around the main road, while the land beyond dissolves into a patchwork of paddy fields, homestead groves and small rectangular ponds dug to raise house plots above the flood level.
On a map the dominant lines are liquid: meandering rivers, straight irrigation channels and khals that link village to village. Roads tend to follow embankments, running raised and straight between fields, and they meet the waterways at bridges and ghats. A Gaurnadi map poster captures this interplay of engineered straight lines and wandering natural channels that defines so much of southern Bangladesh.
Gaurnadi is also an upazila, the administrative subdivision around the town, and it lies on the main road route between Dhaka and Barisal, which makes it a familiar stop for travellers heading south. Beyond that axis the landscape is rural and intensely cultivated, and the printed sheet reflects the balance between a single busy corridor and the quieter network of water around it.

Pond-dotted villages
Small rectangular ponds sit beside almost every cluster of houses, a delta practice that raises homesteads and stores water, and they appear as scattered dark marks across the sheet.
Highway corridor
The main road toward Barisal runs through the upazila as a firm, continuous line, the spine along which the town's shops and busiest streets have gathered.

Many families from Barisal District now live far from home, in Dhaka or abroad, and a map of Gaurnadi keeps the shape of the rivers and village roads within reach. It works as a portrait of a place remembered through water, fields and journeys along the highway.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can all be changed, so the poster can carry a family name or a year that matters. Pick from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download it for $9 or order a printed copy shipped from a print partner.
