Helena is a city in Shelby County, Alabama, south of Birmingham. From above, it is typical of the wooded suburbs around Birmingham. Curving subdivision streets end in cul-de-sacs, and they are separated by ridges and strips of forest. Main roads run through the valleys, and the residential streets branch off them.
