Kempas Map Poster & Print
Kempas is a suburb in the Johor Bahru district, at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, northwest of the city centre. From above, it consists of planned housing estates. These are rows of terraced houses in curving and parallel street patterns, joined by collector roads and bordered by large highway interchanges. The layout is typical of Malaysian suburban development, and each estate has its own internal geometry.
The area is close to the southern end of the country's main north–south expressway, and the large, sweeping ramps and junctions show clearly on the map. Between the neighbourhoods are patches of green, small water bodies and drainage channels. They break up the tightly packed rows. Toward the south, the built-up area merges with the wider urban fabric of Johor Bahru.
A Kempas map poster brings out the repetitive pattern of the estates, which looks almost like a fingerprint at poster scale. The broad curves of the highway infrastructure cut through it. Large looping ramps and junctions sit near the southern end of the north–south expressway. They are the boldest, most sculptural shapes on the map.
