Kežmarok Map Poster & Print
Kežmarok lies in the Spiš region of northern Slovakia, on the Poprad river, with the peaks of the High Tatras rising a short distance away. From above, the historic centre is an elongated old town following a main street and square, with the castle at one end and newer districts spreading across the valley.
For centuries Kežmarok was a free royal town with a strong German-speaking burgher community, and its heritage shows in the Renaissance castle, the old town hall and a large Gothic basilica. Its best-known building is the wooden Protestant articular church, listed by UNESCO among the wooden churches of the Slovak part of the Carpathians.
A Kežmarok map poster gives this layered history a clear form. Kežmarok Castle stands at the end of the old town, close to the river. Its compact footprint closes off the historic street pattern at one end.
Poprad valley
The Poprad river flows past the town on its way north toward Poland. Its course and the valley roads beside it give the map a strong line running across the frame.
