Rice mill yards
Mills and drying yards line the roads in and out of town. Their large, open footprints are among the most distinctive shapes on the map.

Mannachanallur Map Poster & Print
Mannachanallur lies in Tiruchirappalli district of Tamil Nadu, north of Trichy and across the Kollidam, the northern arm of the Kaveri. The land is flat, watered delta country, and the map shows a town surrounded on almost every side by paddy fields and the canals that feed them.
The town is widely associated with rice, especially the Ponni variety, and its economy centres on milling and trade. Large mill compounds and drying yards line the approach roads, and their broad rectangular footprints stand out from the dense residential streets closer to the centre, where temples and markets are grouped together.
Beyond the town, irrigation channels branch out across the fields in fine lines, and the Kollidam's wide sandy bed runs to the south. A Mannachanallur map poster shows a place shaped by one crop and one river system, set out as a clear pattern of water, grain and streets.

Kollidam river
The wide northern branch of the Kaveri runs to the south of town. Its broad channel forms a strong band across the lower part of the composition.
Delta channels
Irrigation canals fan out through the surrounding paddy fields. They create a fine network of branching lines around the compact centre.

Families in the rice trade, people who grew up in the Trichy area and those who have moved away from the Kaveri delta will recognise this landscape. The poster gives familiar ground a new, graphic form.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, in English or Tamil. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper works especially well with the fine canal lines.
