Valley floor
Settlement follows the flat ground of the valley, so the town appears as a narrow band rather than a round centre, with streets aligned to the valley's direction.

Nīlī Map Poster & Print
Nīlī is the capital of Daykundi province, in the mountainous centre of Afghanistan. On a map the town is small and linear, set in a valley with steep, empty terrain rising on either side. Roads follow the valley floor and the easiest gradients, and the built-up area thins quickly as the ground climbs.
Daykundi is among the most remote provinces in the country, and Nīlī functions as its administrative centre, connecting scattered villages across the highlands. Its layout reflects the terrain more than any plan: buildings and fields cluster where there is level land and water, and the rest of the frame is taken up by the shape of the valley.
A Nīlī map poster is spare by nature. A handful of roads, a thin band of settlement and a lot of open space make for a minimal composition that suits the black-and-white format. It is a portrait of a place defined by altitude and distance rather than by density.

Mountain roads
A few roads leave the town along the terrain, bending with the slopes as they link Nīlī to the rest of Daykundi's highlands.
Open highland
Most of the frame is unbuilt mountain land, which gives the poster a great deal of empty space and makes every drawn line more noticeable.

For people from Daykundi, or anyone who has lived or worked in Afghanistan's central highlands, this sparse map keeps a far-off place close. Its restraint suits a quiet wall and a simple frame.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, in English or in your own spelling of the name. Pick Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download 300 DPI files for $9 or order a printed poster.
