Qūchān Map Poster & Print
Qūchān lies in the north of Razavi Khorasan, in a broad valley between mountain ranges on the road from Mashhad toward the Turkmen border. The upper course of the Atrak River runs through the region, and the town sits among farmland and vineyards on the valley floor with ridges rising on both sides.
The present town is relatively young. Earthquakes, most destructively in 1893, ruined the old settlement, and Qūchān was rebuilt a short distance away on a more regular plan. The area also appears in Persian history as the place near which Nader Shah was assassinated in 1747.
A Qūchān map poster shows how that rebuilding shaped the town. Its streets are more orderly than in many older Iranian towns, with main roads crossing the centre and newer districts spreading across the valley. Around them, fields and orchards mark the edges before the hills begin.

Rebuilt street plan
Because the town was rebuilt after the 1893 earthquake, its layout is more regular than older Khorasan towns. Straight main roads organise the neighbourhoods around them.
Farmland and vineyards
Cultivated plots surround the built area, especially in the direction of the river. They give the outer part of the poster a soft, fragmented texture.
