Rémire-Montjoly Map Poster & Print
Rémire-Montjoly sits on the Cayenne peninsula in French Guiana, just east of the capital, on the Atlantic coast. On a map the shoreline is the main feature: a series of sandy beaches separated by rocky points, with low wooded hills rising behind them. Residential streets fill the flatter ground between the hills and the sea.
To the southeast, the Mahury River reaches the ocean. On its bank is Dégrad des Cannes, French Guiana's main commercial port. The commune's beaches are also known as nesting sites for sea turtles, and in the nesting season people come at night to watch them. Inland, marshes and forest take over quickly and close off the built-up area.
A Rémire-Montjoly map poster shows how the town is held between ocean, hills and river. The coastline makes a clear, irregular edge, the forested slopes leave open space, and the streets run between them. It is an unusual map, tropical and coastal yet recognisably French in some of its planning, and a very personal image for anyone who has lived there.

Mahury River mouth
The Mahury meets the ocean southeast of town, with the port of Dégrad des Cannes on its bank, making a wide channel of water at the edge of the map.
Wooded hills
Low hills behind the coast stay largely forested, leaving calm open areas that separate the residential streets.

For people who lived in or near Cayenne, whether for work, family or a posting overseas, Rémire-Montjoly means beaches, turtles and the edge of the forest. A map keeps that setting visible long after leaving.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line, in French or any language, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
