North coast shoreline
The town meets the sea along a gently curving coast, and the contrast between land and water gives the map a strong, clear outline.

Sumbawa Besar Map Poster & Print
Sumbawa Besar is the main town of western Sumbawa, an island in the Lesser Sunda chain east of Lombok. It lies on the north coast, near the broad waters of Saleh Bay. From above, the town is spread over low ground near the shore, with streets forming an irregular grid that runs back from the coast toward rising land inland.
Rivers and streams cross the town on their way to the sea, and the coastline shows the curves of beaches and small inlets. Offshore, Moyo Island appears as a large shape in the water to the north. The streets thin out quickly into rice fields and hills, so the town has a clear edge on the map.
Sumbawa Besar was the seat of the Sultanate of Sumbawa, and its large wooden palace, the Dalam Loka, is one of the best-known historic buildings on the island. A Sumbawa Besar map poster shows a coastal town between sea and highlands, with the bay and island adding a strong maritime element.

Moyo Island offshore
To the north, Moyo Island sits in the water beyond the coast, a large rounded shape that balances the composition when included in the frame.
Town streets to fields
The street grid gives way quickly to rice fields and hills, so the built-up area appears compact against a wide, open background.
