Tallbīsah lies a short distance north of Homs, on the route that connects Homs with Hama. From above, the town is a dense cluster of streets on level agricultural land, with the main highway passing along its side and field boundaries spreading out in every direction.
The Orontes river valley runs nearby, and the surrounding plain has been farmed for a very long time. The town's layout reflects gradual growth: a tighter core of older streets, surrounded by newer blocks that reach out along the roads leading into the countryside.
