Tewulike lies in central Xinjiang, in the Yanqi basin between the Tianshan foothills and the lowlands around Korla. Water from the mountains supports irrigated farming here, so the settlement sits inside a green patch surrounded by much drier country.
From above, the town appears as a set of straight streets and rectangular blocks, the planned pattern common across the region. Around it, fields form long parallel strips edged by canals and shelter belts. Past the cultivated land, the map empties toward desert and mountain slopes.
