Wanaraja lies in Garut Regency in West Java, Indonesia, in the upland basin ringed by volcanoes that gives the Garut area its cool climate and fertile soil. Its map is less a single town than a chain of villages and neighbourhoods strung along roads, with rice fields and gardens filling the spaces in between.
