Irrigation pattern
Long, straight channels and field edges divide the land into regular plots. The result is a clear geometric texture across the whole map.

Yisilamu'awati Map Poster & Print
Yisilamu'awati is a township in the Hotan region of southern Xinjiang, on the southern rim of the Tarim Basin. Settlement here depends on water from mountain rivers, and the map shows it. Roads, canals and field boundaries run in long, mostly straight lines across irrigated land, and houses cluster along them.
Like other oases around Hotan, the township lies between the Kunlun Mountains to the south and the Taklamakan Desert to the north. Farming relies on channels that carry river water from the mountains across the plain. Rows of poplars line many of these roads and ditches and act as windbreaks against dust and sand.
A Yisilamu'awati map poster presents a landscape organised by irrigation, with a regular pattern of roads and plots that stops abruptly at the edge of the oasis. Beyond it, the map empties out. That contrast between careful cultivation and open desert makes the sheet unusual and calm, a portrait of a place shaped by water management.

Tree-lined roads
Roads run between rows of poplar windbreaks. They link houses and villages scattered along the cultivated land.
Oasis edge
The cultivated area ends where water no longer reaches. Beyond that line the map opens into empty desert space.

For people from the Hotan oases, or anyone drawn to the landscapes of the old Silk Road routes, this map records a way of living shaped by water. Its geometric order makes a striking minimalist print.
