Balaka Map Poster & Print
Balaka is the administrative centre of Balaka District in Malawi's Southern Region, north of Blantyre. The town is compact. On a map its streets form a small cluster around the market and main roads, with the railway line passing close by. Beyond the centre, the pattern quickly loosens into scattered homesteads and fields.
The land around the town is fairly flat and dry compared with the highlands elsewhere in the south, and small households farm much of it. The railway has long connected the area to other parts of Malawi and to the coast in Mozambique. That gives the town a role as a local crossing point for trade and travel.
A Balaka map poster is a restrained composition: a clear town centre, the straight line of the railway, and roads reaching out across open ground. It suits anyone who wants a quiet, uncluttered picture of a place where everyday life is organised around the market, the road and the land.

Market centre
The busiest streets gather around the market and main road, forming the densest part of the map in an otherwise open landscape.
Open farmland
Beyond the centre, small fields and homesteads cover a broad, flat plain, leaving wide white spaces that give the poster a calm feel.
