The Euphrates
The river runs as a broad band through the map. Its width makes it the dominant shape and gives the whole poster its orientation.

Birecik Map Poster & Print
Birecik lies on the east bank of the Euphrates in Şanlıurfa Province. The river is the defining feature here. It is wide and slow, and since the construction of the Birecik Dam upstream, parts of the valley have been flooded. The town climbs from the water up onto the limestone slopes behind it.
A castle ruin stands on a rocky outcrop above the river and marks the ancient crossing point that gave the town its importance. A long bridge carries the main highway across the Euphrates. Birecik is also known for its breeding station for the northern bald ibis, one of the world's rarest birds.
A Birecik map poster is anchored by the river. The Euphrates fills a broad band of the frame, and the town's streets press against its bank and spread up the slope. The bridge draws a single straight line across the water. It is a simple, strong composition shaped by one of history's great rivers.

Highway bridge
A long bridge carries the road across the river. On the map it forms a crisp straight line over the water, linking the town to the west bank.
Riverside slopes
Streets rise from the riverbank onto the higher ground behind. Their curves follow the terrain and show how the town climbs away from the water.
