River confluence
The Magdalena and the Cesar meet beside the town, forming a broad junction of channels that dominates the poster and explains why El Banco grew here.

El Banco Map Poster & Print
El Banco lies in the south of Magdalena Department, at the confluence of the Magdalena River and the Cesar River. From above the town sits on the riverbank with its grid facing the water, and the land around it is a low, watery landscape of channels, floodplains and marshes, with the broad Ciénaga de Zapatosa to the east.
The town is closely tied to cumbia. It is the birthplace of the composer José Barros, author of La Piragua, and hosts a national cumbia festival every year. For centuries the river made El Banco a stopping point for boats travelling along the Magdalena.
An El Banco map poster is defined by water. The wide curve of the Magdalena, the entrance of the Cesar and the irregular edges of wetlands frame a compact town, making a composition where the land looks almost like an island. It is one of the most fluid maps in the Colombian interior.

Ciénaga de Zapatosa
This large freshwater marsh spreads east of the town. Its irregular shoreline and scattered islands fill part of the frame with open water.
Riverside grid
The town centre is laid out in blocks running back from the riverbank, a compact built-up area surrounded on several sides by water and floodplain.

དོན་དག་ཡོད་པའི་ས་ཁྲ།
El Banco means something special to people from the Colombian Caribbean, to cumbia lovers and to families who travelled the Magdalena for generations. The play of rivers and marshes makes the poster striking even to those who have never visited.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line and add a date, perhaps the year of a festival or a family event. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir turns the water into deep shapes.
