Pinillos Map Poster & Print
Pinillos is a municipality in the department of Bolívar in northern Colombia, in the low, wet region known as the Mompox Depression. On a map the town is a small cluster of streets beside the water. Around it lies a large area of channels, lagoons and floodplain.
The landscape is shaped by the Magdalena River system, which splits into several branches here and spreads into marshes, or ciénagas. Water sets the rhythm of life, and the map shows how closely the settlement follows the riverbank.
A Pinillos map poster is largely a picture of water. The town takes up only a small part of the composition. Most of the sheet is given over to winding channels and irregular lagoons, which in black and white read almost like an abstract drawing.

River branches
Arms of the Magdalena system wind through the area. They draw broad, curving lines that dominate the composition.
Ciénagas
Marshes and shallow lagoons spread across the floodplain in irregular shapes. They give the poster its distinctive, fluid texture.
