Poukham Un Map Poster & Print
Poukham Un lies in the Fatick region of west-central Senegal. It is a flat landscape of farmland and savanna trees, with the salt flats and tidal channels of the Sine-Saloum closer to the coast. Settlements here tend to be spread out rather than compact, with homes and compounds grouped around sandy roads and open spaces, and fields reaching right up to their edges.
The Fatick region is part of the historic Sine area, closely associated with the Serer people and their farming traditions, including millet and groundnut cultivation. Towns and villages are linked by a network of roads and tracks, and baobabs and other large trees stand out in the open ground between them.
A Poukham Un map poster offers a spare, open composition. The lines are fewer and more widely spaced than on a city map, and the empty space around them is part of the picture. For people from the area that openness is familiar, and the print keeps it in a simple, readable form.

Clustered compounds
Housing is grouped in loose clusters rather than tight blocks. On the map the built-up areas appear as scattered patches separated by open ground.
Toward the Sine-Saloum
To the south and west, the region's farmland gives way to the salt flats and waterways of the Sine-Saloum delta, which give the wider area its irregular, branching edges.
