The ciénaga
The Ciénaga de Simití spreads out beside the town as a wide, irregular body of water. On the map it forms the largest and most striking shape.

Simití Map Poster & Print
Simití is a town in the south of Bolívar department, in Colombia's Magdalena river lowlands. It sits on the edge of the Ciénaga de Simití, a large shallow wetland lake connected to the river system. From above, the town is a small grid of streets pressed against the water, with the open surface of the ciénaga filling a large part of the view.
It is one of the older settlements in the region, dating from the colonial period, and the area around it has long depended on fishing, farming and, toward the Serranía de San Lucas to the west, gold mining. Travel here still often means river and lake routes as well as roads.
A Simití map poster is mostly about water and edges. A compact cluster of streets sits beside a broad, irregular lake, with wetland channels and low ground spreading around it. The contrast between the small town and the large open water makes an unusually calm and spacious composition, ideal for minimalist prints.

Waterfront grid
The town's modest street grid runs right up to the shore, so its edge follows the line of the lake instead of a straight boundary.
Wetland margins
Channels and marshy ground around the lake give the map soft, broken outlines, a delicate texture that shows well at larger print sizes.
