Lake Beseka
A saline lake next to the town has expanded markedly over the decades. Its irregular shoreline is one of the most prominent shapes on the map.

Ang mapa
Metahāra Map Poster & Print
Metahāra lies in the Main Ethiopian Rift, along the historic road and rail corridor between Addis Ababa and Djibouti. The town is small and linear, stretched along its transport routes. On a map it sits among striking natural features: dark lava fields, the volcanic cone of Mount Fantale close by, and the valley of the Awash River.
Right beside the town lies Lake Beseka, which has grown considerably over recent decades, flooding surrounding land and parts of the road. It has become a well-known example of a changing rift lake. Nearby, the Metahara sugar estate lays out broad irrigated fields in regular blocks, a sharply geometric pattern set against the rough volcanic ground.
Awash National Park lies just to the east and is known for its savanna, its river gorge and its wildlife. A Metahāra map poster captures an unusual meeting of natural forces and human planning, with a lake, a volcano and irrigated farmland all within a few kilometres of the town centre.

Mount Fantale
The volcano rises near the town, and its crater and lava flows appear as rough, textured ground surrounding the settlement.
Sugar estate grid
Irrigated plantation fields form large rectangular blocks. They contrast sharply with the natural forms of lava, lake and river in the rift.

Bakit Metahāra
Isang mapang may kahulugan
This map suits people who have worked on the estate, travelled the road to Djibouti or studied the rift's geology, and anyone who likes landscapes where nature and engineering sit side by side. Few small towns have such a varied setting.
Edit the title, subtitle and coordinates to make the poster your own. Sand and Paper suit the rift's dry tones, and Noir gives the lava fields a dramatic depth. Start with the free watermarked preview, then order HD files or a framed print.
